My new blog

I have begun a new blog for other parents. I will be posting web sites that I find beneficial there. The ex-technology coordinator is rising up from within me. Ha, ha!

Today was my first blog there. Any parent may find the sites beneficial they can be used as a supplement to what your child is doing at home, private or public school.

A dose of discipline please!!!

I seem to be flying by the seat of my pants these days. My husband says I rarely stop going...but I rarely seem to make headway either. I have got to get some organization around here. Make things more efficient and effective around here.

First it probably needs to start with some sleep what am I doing on the computer???

I've been tagged...

Ok so a fellow blogger has tagged me to type 7 random things about myself...
here goes.
  1. I am nursing as I sit here and type this. Not so great for the back for some reason.
  2. I was a baton twirler with the Dixie Strutters for 4 years in Texas. If I remember correctly, we marched in the Cotton Bowl parade a few times. I remember it being really, really cold. Imagine wearing earmuffs, a leotard and tights while twirling a very cold metal stick. I won several marching competitions during those years. I could really strut my stuff.
  3. I was second runner up in the Little Miss Dothan Alabama pageant when I was 7.
  4. I, like Stef, do not like doing laundry. However I enjoy a good floor mopping even though I don't do it often enough.
  5. I like black and white in decorating...French country toile and all. I like to mix the French country style and contemporary styles. I have Ansel Adams black and whites hanging next to my French country plates in the living room.
  6. I have to hide my husbands watches in his top drawer or the ticking keeps me up at night. John says I can hear the baby crying in his crib 3 houses away. Light sleeper, what can I say.
  7. I have to go buy new shoes. I only have 3 pairs that fit right now that aren't flip flops. Godd think I live in Florida. My feet get bigger everytime I have a baby...and they stayed bigger even after I lost the baby weight after the first two...we won't talk about the baby weight now. OK!

OK...somehow I am supposed to go tag 7 other people we'll see.

Fun day out!

Well, today was a really great day. Got up and dressed in one of those new outfits that my mom brought. It was actually 7 items of clothing not 12. I am concrete so I gotta correct myself. (see cure for the blues blog from yesterday) Then we headed to Staples to buy more invitations so I could print out more invitations for the 3degrees ministries anniversary celebration and auction. On the way I stopped at a yard sale and bought a crib, mattress, and cute boy bumper pad for $30. Then we headed to Chic-fil-a for lunch. After eating a yummy chicken sandwhich, I had to have somewhere for the kids to play while I nursed Nathaniel. I thought the play area would be great except for the really big kids that were at least a foot taller than my kids that were playing chase in the really tiny play area. So after my kids got knocked over a few times, I bought them all ice cream and we sat at a table while Nathaniel ate. After an hour and a half at Chic-fil-a and only dropping one ice cream and spilling one drink and lots of looks at me like I must be CRAZY, we headed to Target. We tried to get a gift off the registry for my brother and his finance but ended up getting a gift card. The Target we went to just wasn't stocked very well. Every item that I could find in the store on the registry was damaged.

It sounds like it was a really horrible day but my kids were SOOOO amazing at Staples that we were all saying "That was Easy!" as we got in the car. I was so proud I saw the crib at the yard sale. By 10 a.m. nothing good is ever left at a yard sale in St. Cloud. We had a blast at chic-fil-a eating together. Even Target was fun until Cheney had a melt-down as we were trying to leave. I really like getting out of the house with my kids. Then when we got home, we watched Because of Winn Dixie...that dog movie (it was on T.V. but I think I will buy it) while I nursed and then had dinner and rotated the kids through baths and nursed and then put them down at 7:30 to look at books in their own beds while I fed Nathaniel cereal and bathed him and prayed with the big kids at 8. And since then I have printed about 100 invitations and gotten kids clothes ready for church and the bridal shower tomorrow. And also nursed Nathaniel again. Woohoo!!! Well, I better get in bed so I will be able to wake up in the morning. I am praying Nathaniel will have 8 hours of sleep tonight for me. That would be GREAT!!!

A cure for the blues...

Cheney runs around our house saying, "I a Super Mommy to the Rescue. " Remember those days when you were little and your mom could kiss a boo-boo away. Your Mom just seemed to make everything OK. Well, my Mom is still doing that for me. I have had a long week with John being gone. Being overwhelmed I had asked Mom if I could come over sometime with the kids and just hang out. Well, as we were on the phone this morning discussing it, my mom realized I just really needed some help around here. So she brought lunch and dinner, several new outfits that actually fit me and folded clothes and swept floors and hugged kids and well you name it she did it. She even made me take a shower. Yeah, it's been one of those weeks.

She actually stopped at Ross on the way here and found some great clothes for me. We had gone shopping last week to find some clothes to fit this post-pregnant body of mine and out of the around 100 items I tried on, we came home with three. No exaggerating...it was very discouraging. Well, today she went to Ross on her way here and came with close to a dozen and an amazing brown purse to go with the dress we bought last week that I just love and I am going to wear to my lil' brothers wedding in a month. I'll have to take some pictures when I get all fixed up.

Thanks MOM for helping me get out of my slump today. You are a Super Mommy and I feel rescued!!!

What kind of shoe are you?

So what kind of shoe are you? Heather did this on her blog and I just couldn't resist. Kind of funny... Lately, I feel kind of like I imagine a clog... heavy-physically and emotionally, makes a lot of noise. I have to admit I still kind of feel like I am in the baby blues stage. So ready to get out but havin' trouble changing those thoughts. By the way...I am not real fond of wearing big clunky clogs. But I guess I do work at a company that helps the world...3degrees is trying to change it, one young person at a time...I work there too...not just John.

So what kind of shoe are you???

Elijah's Birthday bash

So how many of you laughed when I used the words "easy" and "black frosting" in the same sentence. After an entire container of black icing color and 1/2 cup of cocoa I got something close to a dark gray with a tint of purple. But John said it looked like the color of a tire and as it sat on the cake for a little while it really starting looking black. And John actually ate it and said he liked it. He normally only eats Duncan Hines Milk Chocolate icing. My hands were stained after making the icing and check out the kids tongues after eating it. The grown ups' tongues were purplish-black but I won't show you those pictures...though they are funny they just aren't as cute as the cuties are.

Well, Elijah was initially disappointed that we had to go to church on his birthday. But after we told him we were celebrating when we got back home he was OK. His dear sweet S.S. teachers had cupcakes for him. On the way home, we stopped by the P.O. Box to get MaMaw's gift because we had forgotten to pick it up earlier in the week. For lunch, we let Elijah choose where we got lunch. Can you believe that he chose BURGER KING? Yes, we picked up Burger King and came home. Then the kids were SOOOOO excited to watch Elijah's present from MaMaw...the new Alvin and the Chipmunks Movie. They have been quoting that movie since John took them to see it one night shortly after Nathaniel was born. They sound just like chipmunks, too. MaMaw...we miss you and wish you had been here with us!!! So while they watched, I baked a cake and iced it.

Then Grandma and Grandad joined us. We ate cake and Elijah opened his other presents. We got him a Hot Wheels Ramp/Race Track and some cars and a carrying case. My Mom, had picked up a couple of Hot Wheels cars and Hot Wheels coloring book, even though we hadn't told her anything about the cake or our present. It was so funny. AND Grandad is going to take Elijah shopping this week to pick out a toy of his choice. Aunt Kiki sent a pirate suit including a treasure chest to Elijah for his birthday. He really likes it!!! We miss you, Aunt Kiki and Uncle Nick and the Cuzzies. After this picture the kids disappeared upstairs to play with the cars and race track. All in all a very good day!!! Sweet and simple. Though next year Elijah has requested a little kid party. Now we just have to find some boys to be Elijah's friends. Honestly, we don't know any families with boys his age that we live near enough to to do anything with on a regular enough basis to actually invite to a birthday party. Maybe we could fly in the cuzzies...there will be three of them by then...woohoo!!! Oh...and Elijah will be six, that is the age MaMaw flies down for birthdays.
